Potchefstromers, begin stap, begin draf, begin oefen.

UNIQUE ROTARY-PROJECT: O’HAGAN’S BUSINESS RELAY The Rotary Club of Potchefstroom will be staging a Business Relay on 24 March 2001. The event will take place on the Saturdat afternoon, starting at 14:30. O’Hagan’s is the sponsor for this special event. The Rotary Club would like to thank Mr. Theo Adlam, Manager of O’Hagan’s for this sponsorship. The funds collected through this project will be allocated to the new Rotary Park, a housing project for senior citizens.
The event will start and finish at O’Hagan’s. McArthur Marathon Club is the official organisers of the event. The total distance for the relay is 21km and companies must enter six members to finish the different stages. The different stages vary form 2km to 5 km in distance and Rotary plans to involve professional people, business people, teachers, etc. Obviously the above groups can challenge each other.
All prizes will be O’Hagan’s related, e.g. a meal for the winning team and their spouses. Entry fee will be R300 per team and each team member will receive a quality T-shirt. There will also be hosts of lucky draw prizes and the prize-giving will certainly be a highlight in the program. Mr. Adlam is planning a special beer tent opposite O’Hagan’s.
A field of 100 teams from Potchefstroom is certainly not far-fetched. Mr. Hannes Botha, Town Clerk, promised three teams from the City Council. The route will cover most of the scenic spots of our beautiful town. The McArthur Marathon Club would like to thank Mr. Malcolm Grimbeek for his outstanding co-operation and help regarding the route as well as controlling the traffic on race day. Six watering stations will be available on the route (at the end of each stage) and will be manned by staff from FFG, Mediclinic, O’Hagan’s, Bankfin and MacRib.
The public of Potchefstroom is fortunate to have a nationale long distance coach, John Hamlett, in our midst. He will have a clinic helping participants with a training programme that will appear in the Herald on a two weekly basis.
We urge the people of Potchefstroom to start walking, start jogging and start training. We all know that training is good for your health and in the process we will raise funds for charity. For More Information Contact: |
